Executive Summary#

All 11 verification parts PASS. Phases 1-5 are complete and verified. The codebase is healthy, all 518 test cases pass with zero failures, lint is clean, backward compatibility is preserved, and all 25 roadmap success criteria are satisfied.

Part 1: Build Verification#

Status: PASS

All 4 plugin binaries compile successfully via make build:

Part 2: Full Test Suite#

Status: PASS

Each phase has a detailed verification report produced by the GSD verifier. All 5 passed:

Verified that example projects exist, generated files are present, and all plugin binaries build. This is a structural presence check -- example projects were not compiled or executed end-to-end.

Status: PASS (golden file coverage)

Note on low coverage numbers: Coverage appears low because the generators are tested primarily through golden file tests that invoke protoc as a subprocess. Go's -coverprofile only tracks in-process code execution, not subprocess invocations. The actual test coverage through golden files is comprehensive -- 99 golden files across 4 generators with 48 OpenAPI files validated for structural correctness. The internal/annotations package has the highest in-process coverage (20.7%) because its unit tests execute directly. This is an inherent limitation of testing protoc plugins.

Part 10: Roadmap Success Criteria Spot-Check#

Phase 1: Foundation Quick Wins (4/4 criteria)#

1. fileNeedsURLImport() exists at internal/clientgen/generator.go:101 -- conditional net/url import works

4. HTTP handler uses protojson for proto messages (encoding/json only for interface checks)
5. Cross-file annotation resolution propagates errors (no silent suppression)

Phase 3: Existing Client Review (5/5 criteria)#

1. Go client serializes identically to server (golden file byte comparison)
2. TypeScript client produces matching JSON shapes (golden file verification)
3. Error handling consistent: ValidationError + ApiError with same structure
4. Header handling consistent: service-level + method-level headers identical
5. All golden file tests pass with new test cases for regressions

Phase 4: JSON Primitive Encoding (6/6 criteria)#

1. int64_encoding = STRING works across all generators (extension 50010)
2. int64_encoding = NUMBER works with precision warning (verified in goldens)
3. enum_encoding = STRING works across all generators (extension 50011)
4. Per-value enum_value annotation works (extension 50012)
5. OpenAPI schemas reflect configured encoding accurately
6. Cross-generator consistency tests pass (14 tests)

Phase 5: JSON Nullable & Empty (5/5 criteria)#

1. nullable = true generates pointer types (Go), union types (TS), type arrays (OpenAPI) (extension 50013)
2. Three states representable: absent, null, value
3. empty_behavior PRESERVE/NULL/OMIT all work correctly (extension 50014)
4. Semantics consistent across all 4 generators (shared annotations)
5. Cross-generator consistency tests pass (7 tests)
