Observable Truths#
| # | Truth | Status | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | A google.protobuf.Timestamp field annotated with timestamp_format = UNIX_SECONDS serializes as a numeric Unix timestamp (not RFC 3339 string) across all generators |
✓ VERIFIED | Go: raw["unixSecondsTs"], _ = json.Marshal(t.Unix()) in timestamp_format.go:187TS: unixSecondsTs?: number in golden fileOpenAPI: type: integer, format: unix-timestamp in YAML |
| 2 | All four timestamp formats work correctly: RFC3339 (default), UNIX_SECONDS, UNIX_MILLIS, DATE (date-only string) | ✓ VERIFIED | All 5 variants (including default) verified in cross-generator consistency tests — all pass Test: TestTimestampFormatCrossGeneratorAgreement passes for all 5 formats |
| 3 | A bytes field annotated with bytes_encoding = HEX serializes as a hex string instead of base64 across all generators |
✓ VERIFIED | Go: hex.EncodeToString in bytes_encoding.go:211TS: hexData: string in golden fileOpenAPI: format: hex, pattern: ^[0-9a-fA-F]*$ in YAML |
| 4 | All five bytes encoding options work correctly: BASE64 (default), BASE64_RAW, BASE64URL, BASE64URL_RAW, HEX | ✓ VERIFIED | All 6 variants (including default) verified in cross-generator consistency tests — all pass Test: TestBytesEncodingCrossGeneratorAgreement passes for all 6 encodings |
| 5 | OpenAPI schemas document the actual encoding format used (e.g., format: unix-timestamp or format: hex) |
✓ VERIFIED | Timestamp: date-time, unix-timestamp, unix-timestamp-ms, date Bytes: byte, base64url, hex with regex pattern All present in golden YAML files |
| 6 | A cross-generator consistency test confirms that go-http, go-client, ts-client, and openapiv3 agree on serialization format for every timestamp_format and bytes_encoding combination | ✓ VERIFIED | Tests pass: - TestTimestampFormatCrossGeneratorAgreement (5 formats) - TestBytesEncodingCrossGeneratorAgreement (6 encodings) - TestGoGeneratorsProduceIdenticalTimestampFormat - TestGoGeneratorsProduceIdenticalBytesEncoding |
Score: 6/6 truths verified

Requirements Coverage#
| Requirement | Status | Supporting Truths |
|---|---|---|
| JSON-05: Multiple timestamp formats (RFC3339, UNIX_SECONDS, UNIX_MILLIS, DATE) | ✓ SATISFIED | Truths 1, 2 — all 4 formats work across all generators |
| JSON-07: Bytes encoding options (BASE64, BASE64_RAW, BASE64URL, BASE64URL_RAW, HEX) | ✓ SATISFIED | Truths 3, 4 — all 5 encoding options work across all generators |
Anti-Patterns Found#
| File | Line | Pattern | Severity | Impact |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| (none found) | - | - | - | - |
Note: nolint:dupl directives found in timestamp_format.go and bytes_encoding.go are intentional — code generation naturally produces similar structure across encoding types. This is cosmetic, not a bug.
Human Verification Required#
None. All success criteria are programmatically verifiable:
- Test suite passes (all consistency tests green)
- Golden files contain substantive implementations
- OpenAPI schemas have correct format annotations
- TypeScript types match Go serialization
- Go server and client produce identical encoding code
Verification Methodology#
Artifact Verification:
- Level 1 (Exists): All 12 required files exist
- Level 2 (Substantive): All files exceed minimum line counts (75-306 lines for implementation files), no TODO/FIXME/placeholder patterns found, MarshalJSON/UnmarshalJSON implementations are complete with proper encoding logic
- Level 3 (Wired): All generators call encoding file generation functions, consistency tests reference all artifacts, golden files generated from proto definitions
Truth Verification:
- Truth 1: Verified UNIX_SECONDS generates
json.Marshal(t.Unix())in Go,numbertype in TS,integer+unix-timestampformat in OpenAPI - Truth 2: Cross-generator consistency test passes for all 5 timestamp formats (default, RFC3339, UNIX_SECONDS, UNIX_MILLIS, DATE)
- Truth 3: Verified HEX generates
hex.EncodeToString()in Go,stringtype in TS,hexformat + regex pattern in OpenAPI - Truth 4: Cross-generator consistency test passes for all 6 bytes encodings (default, BASE64, BASE64_RAW, BASE64URL, BASE64URL_RAW, HEX)
- Truth 5: Inspected OpenAPI YAML golden files — all format annotations present and correct
- Truth 6: Ran 8 consistency tests (4 per encoding type) — all pass
Test Evidence:
TestGoGeneratorsProduceIdenticalTimestampFormat — PASS
TestTimestampFormatTypeScriptTypes — PASS
TestTimestampFormatOpenAPISchemas — PASS
TestTimestampFormatCrossGeneratorAgreement — PASS (5 subtests)
TestGoGeneratorsProduceIdenticalBytesEncoding — PASS
TestBytesEncodingTypeScriptTypes — PASS
TestBytesEncodingOpenAPISchemas — PASS
TestBytesEncodingCrossGeneratorAgreement — PASS (6 subtests)
Full test suite: go test ./... — all packages pass (cached, no regressions)
Build verification: make build — no compilation errors
